As of Fiscal 2022, our water conservation efforts have reduced the amount of water used by our LZB Branded Manufacturing operations by 28% compared with Fiscal 2016 usage.
We have sourcing policies and processes in place (see Wood Sourcing Policy here) to help ensure we comply with the legal sourcing requirements of the Lacey Act and eliminate illegal logging activities. Over 74% of our wood is from sustainable plantation-grown renewable rubber-wood, 50% of which comes from acceptable plantation resources.* We also use many other wood- and fiber-based materials made with recycled or recovered paper.
La-Z-Boy is continually working with our wood suppliers to ensure best practices in forest management are maintained. Almost 90% of our domestic wood suppliers are members of the National Hardwood Lumber Association (NHLA), Kentucky Forest Industry Association (KFIA), and other wood sustainability organizations.
The total weight of wood fiber purchased for Fiscal 2022 was approximately 60,284 metric tons. This includes engineered wood, lumber/hardwoods and panel board.
*Acceptable plantation woods means that the plantation was not established through the conversion of natural forest in the last 25 years.
La-Z-Boy received a HIGH SCORE on the 2021 Wood Furniture Scorecard. This is an initiative of National Wildlife Federation (NWF) and Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC), to show the progress in sustainability initiatives implemented by various furniture companies. La-Z-Boy is dedicated to continuing our sustainability efforts by creating a more sustainable supply chain, offering products that are safe and environmentally-friendly and reducing our carbon emissions across the organization.
